The best ideas for the wording on a headstone come through careful and deliberate choices. Some people come to us with a clear idea of the inscription they want, but for most of us mere mortals, finding the words is like, tying our feet together and sending us up a mountain.
Its been said that words have incredible power. Words create worlds and we use these words to define our self and the world around us. For example, when i say “tree” a picture builds in your imagination; a beautiful Maple or Oak tree apears out of nothing within your thoughts. In many ways the words are metaphors pointing to an object they represent. The word “tree” is not a tree; it is a simply a placeholder for the real thing. Our understanding of the word is built upon a deeper set of presuppositions.
